June marks the official start of Pride Month – a powerful reminder of the importance of visibility and solidarity. But at ERA, we believe Pride shouldn’t be limited to a single month – it’s a year-round commitment. Because true belonging isn’t built through one-off initiatives, but through continuous, intentional action. That’s exactly what our Belonging & Culture Committee stands for: creating space for people to feel seen, respected, and connected – every day of the year.
We asked four colleagues from different offices to share their personal highlights and what “belonging” means to them. Their responses show that when we nurture a sense of community, we build a workplace where everyone can truly be themselves.
“Belonging means creating space for everyone to show up as their full, authentic selves. As a non-binary person in Germany, it’s essential for me to live and work authentically. Through my role as Junior Production Manager and as part of the Belonging & Culture Committee, I bring my queer perspective into projects and conversations that shape our culture. This employee-led network connects people from across teams and backgrounds to reflect, challenge, and drive change from within. To me, belonging is not just about inclusion – it’s about celebrating the diversity that makes us stronger, more creative, and more human.
One highlight for me was joining forces with Bertelsmann’s employee network be.queer, who also shared their insights during one of our Learning Lunches – showcasing the real impact of employee networks as a meaningful stand against rainbow-washing.“
„Belonging isn’t just a campaign – it’s something we live every day. One of my proudest moments this year was being part of the launch of our very first 'Belonging @ ERA' magazine. A beautiful collection of stories, photos, and reflections from colleagues across teams, showing what it truly means to feel seen, heard, and connected at work.
I'm incredibly proud to be part of the B&C Committee in Amsterdam and to help create spaces where people feel they belong. Even if it’s just a little each day, it feels meaningful to make a difference together.“
„Our „ERA of Pride“ events in Berlin were real standout moments for me. We brought together talents, partners, colleagues, friends, and family to create a platform full of voices from the queer community and their allies. There were performances, panels, and personal stories that truly resonated. What made it so special was the open and welcoming atmosphere. It felt safe, celebratory, and genuinely inclusive.
For me, belonging at ERA means exactly that: being part of a space where everyone can show up as they are – not just in June, but every day of the year.“
“I love organising events and bringing people together. Creating opportunities where people can talk to each other and make connections. I think it is important to enjoy your work and enjoy coming to work. So by working on creating an inclusive, safe, friendly community feeling at work, it makes people feel like they belong and want to be there.
I really enjoy being a part of the B&C Committee because it brings two of my passions together, talking about bigger issues that work on inclusion, belonging, community, and creating fun events that harness that feeling. Two highlight events for me this year would have to be the Potluck lunch (celebrating different cultures through food) and the Comedy Night (relatability and connection through humour). Both events were working on the bigger umbrella issues of Intersectionality and Black History Month, and both were really fun and created different settings to get to know colleagues or open up discussions.
I am super excited for Pride Month and the year ahead and helping to create fun events and moments together with the ERA community.”
